National Pig Day

Mamma Mia, do we have a lot to celebrate this year!

Meet “Mamma” Mia and her eight piglets, who are today celebrating their first National Pig Day, free from harm at Farm Sanctuary in Watkins, Glen, NY! As you may recall, we rescued Mia’s family from cruelty earlier this year: More than 80 pigs were locked in dark, windowless barns on a property in Cattaraugus County, NY, where the terrified animals were freezing, malnourished, dehydrated, and suffering from pneumonia and mange. But they’ve come a long way since then: The piglets are getting healthier each day, and Mia — while still slow to trust humans, is beginning to realize that her family is safe for life.

Now you can make a difference for this family — and other pigs just like them — by celebrating National Pig Day all month long in their honor! For a one-time donation of $30, you can symbolically adopt this group, helping us celebrate the happy, love-filled lives they are now free to lead at Farm Sanctuary. Your March-long sponsorship includes a special digital certificate for you to enjoy or share with a pig-loving pal! And should you wish to keep the celebration going, you can sponsor a pig (or another rescued farm animal) year-round through Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Farm Animal Program

Safe at Farm Sanctuary, our rescued residents receive all the love and care they need to thrive — and YOUR support and compassion makes it all possible! Your donation will help fuel our lifesaving rescue, education, and advocacy work, helping us create a kinder world for pigs and all farm animals — and Mamma Mia, what a difference we can make when we put compassion first!
