2018 Farm Sanctuary Membership Renewal

Dear friend of farm animals,

Renew your membership

When selecting an animal to feature on the Farm Sanctuary 2018 Membership Card, we wanted one whose story demonstrates the miracles you make possible through your support of Farm Sanctuary.

So we chose Willow. I’ll tell you why in a moment.

You should receive your 2018 Farm Sanctuary Membership Card with her picture on it in your mailbox any day now. But I urge you not to wait for your membership card to arrive to renew your commitment for 2018. Renew your membership right now and begin carrying your new membership card the moment it is in your hands.

Farm Sanctuary got the call about Willow last July. The tiny lamb had been left outside overnight with her mother and two siblings. A mountain lion had attacked the helpless family—and by morning, Willow’s mother and sister were dead.

Willow’s brother had been attacked so violently that veterinarians unanimously agreed he should be euthanized. That left Willow—severely injured and entirely alone.

Willow was in terrible shape. The mountain lion had left her with two large wounds—one of which was the size of a navel orange. They were open, raw, and filled with bacteria and pus. She was very susceptible to infection, so it was important to keep her isolated from other animals. This was very hard for Willow because sheep are flock animals. After having her family members killed in front of her, Willow was desperate for companionship.

So Willow bonded with stuffed animals. It was about the cutest thing we have ever seen—but we knew that once she fully recovered, she would need some real friends.

I’m thrilled to tell you that today, Willow has joined a little flock of lambs with whom she plays, snuggles, and feels safe. She is a happy little lamb without a care in the world!

When you think about the size and power of a mountain lion compared to a little lamb like Willow, it’s pretty incredible that she survived. But farm animals like her demonstrate amazing strength every day. I hope she will inspire you to renew your support of Farm Sanctuary for 2018.

For more than 30 years, Farm Sanctuary has been a rescuer, caregiver, and advocate for farm animals like Willow, and your support has made it possible. In recent years, with members like you by our side, Farm Sanctuary has helped improve the lives of countless suffering animals. But there is so much more to do.

When you renew your membership, you will help us make headway on our most pressing 2018 campaigns—from continuing our fight to ban the slaughter of animals too sick or injured to stand or walk, to speaking out against cruel confinement systems such as battery cages, gestation crates, and veal crates.

You’ll also help Farm Sanctuary share stories like Willow’s with the world, so that more people begin to see farm animals as the unique individuals they are. These stories can change hearts and minds, and inspire action to change the way our nation treats farm animals.

There are so many things we can do this year to make life better for farm animals—but Farm Sanctuary cannot do it alone. Renew today to help us welcome visitors to our shelters, alert people to the abuses on factory farms, and rescue animals like Willow when they need us most.

Yours for farm animals,
